Make Me

I have become quite fond of series. This was the first book by Lee Child that I have ever read, and although it started off a little slow for my taste, boy did it picked up. I found myself not wanting to put the book down because I needed to solve the mystery that surfaced. I have become a such a fan of Jack Reacher. He is a bundle of all the things that I love in a good character: a lover, a fighter..just all around a bad ass. This book was number 20 in Lee Childs Jack Reacher series. I now HAVE to start from the beginning so I can get a true sense of Jack Reacher and his journey. I do not want to say too much about this book because I am going to give you guys all the spoilers, because when I talk about this book I talk WAY TOO MUCH and ruin it for all of my friends.

If you have read any of Lee Child’s work please drop some suggestions below.

Until next time, until the next book…

Gathering Prey

Oh my goodness!!! I do not know how I forgot about this book. After reading John Sandford’s Field of Prey, I found myself desperate to read more of his work. And it never fails. From the very first page I was HOOKED! I have grown quite fond of Lucas Davenport. I could not put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen next.

Lucas Davenport’s daughter who is away for college, meets this pair of travelers who are on the corner playing music for money. His daughter is kind enough to take these two travelers to get food. The story that they tell Lucas’s daughter is the just the start of the page turning plot that John Sandford takes you on. There are twists and turns, and ‘OH NO!’ moments. I will not spoil the book for you, but lets just say that again Lucas Davenport does not disappointment with his ‘by any means necessary’ attitude.

I give this book 5 stars. The Lucas Davenport series have become my new obsession. I will be starting the series from the beginning. I’m just excited thinking about it.

If you do not like crime novels, this series will not be for you. But I do appreciate John Sandford’s ability to detail a crime scene and not make you feel “grossed” out. But if you don’t mind a little graphic detail, I suggest you go and start this series, you will not be let down.

Me before you

I am typing this with a tear stained face. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. Jojo Moyes has easily become one of my new favorite authors. Me before you instantly grabbed my attention from the first page. It was easy for me to relate to the characters because they each had pieces of me present. From Louisa’s carefree spirit, down to Mrs. Traynor’s need to have control. From the start of the book, I needed for Louisa to be okay. I needed for her to find her way through her issues. I needed for her to break through her shell. Partly because Jojo wrote her in a way that came off as helpless. The more the story progressed I realized that this wasn’t just a story about Louisa helping Will, it was about her helping herself, finding herself and I loved that the most.

I knew it was going to be a tear jerker, but I was not prepared for the tears that came and went as I read this amazing book. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more and I cried even more. And let me tell you…I have a such an ugly cry…something that looks a lot like these:

In the pages of Me before you, Jojo Moyes gave you a sense of hope, loss, discovery, pain, sadness, love, and everything in between. I heard so many good things about this book before I decided to pick it up and give it a read. And I must admit that I was a little skeptical because I am not the biggest fan of chic-lit. But it truly did tug at my heart and was such a great read. If you haven’t read it, I suggest you pick it up and read it.

So now as I am sitting here gathering my things at my work desk and still bawling my eyes out, I am eternally yelling at myself to get my shit together.

I recommend this book! And if you have read it please comment below about your thoughts and feelings.

Until next time, until the next book…
