Review: Pride

Author: Ibi Zoboi

Rating: 5/5 Stars

I cannot put into words just how much I adored this book. I actually clutched it to my chest and had this really goofy smile on my face.

Ibi Zoboi did such a beautiful job with this Pride and Prejudice retelling. The story was so much more than girl meets boy. The story covers the topic of gentrification, classism, love and so much more.

We follow Zuri Benitez who is of Afro-Latino decent. She holds her love of her family and her community close to her heart. In a time where Zuri would love for things to stay the same, everything around her is changing. The Darcy family moves in across the street and Zuri wants to hate them and the lavish life they represent from across the street. Will she find love and peace with letting go and making room for the change she fought so hard avoid?

“It’s time to move, flow, grow. That is the nature of rivers. That is the nature of love.”

Until next time, Until the next book.
