In a world that is lead by the Martial Empire, defiance is met by death. Unlikely situations collide the worlds of Laia who is slave doing whatever she can to save her brother who has been arrested for treason. And Elias, a solider who wants nothing more than to break away from the empire. When these worlds collide, Laia and Elias soon realize that even though their missions are completely different, their fates are intertwined; and that they need each other to survive the harsh world they live in.

This was the first fantasy YA book I have read since Harry Potter. And let me tell you!!!! I am in love!! I cannot wait to crack open the second installment and find out what happens next. The world building, the characters, and the detail in this novel was completely breathtaking. I was addicted and drawn into this story line as soon as I flipped to the second page. One sure tell sign that I am really into a book, is when I talk to it. And I found myself talking to the book throughout the entire story! There were characters that I absolutely loved: Laia, Elias, Helene (although she made me mad a few times). And then there were characters that I hated, well there was only one main character that I hated and that was The Commandment. I wanted to fight her the entire time.

I am late to the party on this series, but if you have not started it, START IT!!!!!! And I ship Laia and Elias, I hope they fall in love, get married, and have a bunch of babies.

If you have read this, please let me know how you liked it!

Until next time, until the next book.

Children of Blood and Bone

I just finished this amazing book and I’ve been crying for the past hour. I don’t even know where to start. This book…this book has been something I have been waiting on since I heard @tadeyemibooks was working on bringing to the world. As soon as it was available to order, it was the first thing I did. To hold in my hands the hard work of an author so passionate about her craft, literally made me cry. The way this story unfolded was beautiful, the way this story ended was beautiful. I laughed, I cried, I yelled at Sarans evil ass, and I held this book to my chest every night. Tomi created something amazing, something breathtaking and I am honored and blessed to have been able to experience this work of art. Thank you Tomi! I cannot wait for book 2 and the movie to come out.

I am not going to spoil this for you all, because it is something you have to experience. But if you loved Black Panther, you will adore this book. And there’s magic, what is there NOT to love. If you decide to read it, please tell me your thoughts!

Until next time, until the next book
